…I went to work late and got another ride in before we get more snow!
Here in Bozeman many things are quite a bit more laid back than in the rest of the country, especially when it comes to skiing. A significant part of the local population chooses to live here for what we have in the winter: a great local ski area and (usually) deep powder. In fact, many business and professors at MSU have a variation on the 10 inch rule- if more than 10 inches of snow falls, they won’t be surprised to not see their staff at work or class in the morning.
I’m not a particularly good skier, and I haven’t even gone this year- mostly because ...

Here’s my first crack at the GoPro helmet cam. I had it mounted on my handle bars rather than my helmet as there is too much movement on top. I think I put a fingerprint smudgy on the lens as it’s a bit washed out in the top half of frame. I don’t have the JohnF awesome frame angle happening yet, I’m still working on that one!
This shows a small part of the trails I usually ride on weekdays after work around Nail Can Hill in Albury, NSW, Australia. These trails are legal and are actively maintained by the Albury-Wodonga Mountain Bikers Club.

With only a week out from the Alpine Assault Shamus and I thought we better get out and do some km’s before next weekend.
We decided to hit The Beechworth Mountain Bike Park for a few laps. It’s a great spot and only a 30 minute drive from Albury. It’s maintained by the Beechworth Chaingang and is only a minute drive from the Beechworth CBD. It’s quite a slow, technical, rocky xc single track loop of approximately 10km with a long switchback climb out. Lots of twists and turns, rock gardens and technical sections. It’s not a rush loop however it’s technically and physically rewarding. The Stumpy excelled on this type of trail.
Our rough goal for the ride was 3 to ...

While my hugely anticipated Stumpy is floating around the Pacific Ocean sipping Pina Coladas I am counting every second until it’s arrival. In an attempt to stem wearing my carpet out walking around in circles I have been scouring the web for as much info on this little beauty as possible. So here are a few videos about the 2010 Stumpjumper FSR:
